Teratopactus Heller was revised by del Río et al. (2006) and includes seven species, most of them distributed only in Brazil.
Teratopactus nodicollis is distinguished by the presence of a tooth-like tubercle on each side of pronotum and at the apex of humeri. The vestiture is mostly brown, mixed with whitish; the scutellum is white same as 5º interval of elytra.
This species shows great morphometric and color variation throughout its geographic range. Males are more slender than females.
The oviposition habits have been studied by Guedes & Parra (2004), that demonstrated that T. nodicollis oviposits isolate eggs in the soil (most Naupactini lay masses of eggs on plants or litter).
Baccharis dracunculifolia DC. (Asteraceae), Panicum campestre Nees ex Trin. and Paspalum plicatum Pers. (Poaceae) (Silva et al. 1968). In Brazil causes damage in Zea mays L. (Poaceae), Solanum tuberosum L. (Solanaceae), Vitis vinifera L. (Vitaceae) and Citrus spp (Rutaceae) (Lanteri et al. 2002b), and in Argentina attacks Citrus spp (Lanteri et al. 2002a).
It is mainly associated with vegetation of the Chacoan and Cerrado biogeographic provinces.
