Saurops is a monotypic genus similar to Platyomus Salberg and Aptolemus Schoenherr (Lanteri & del Río 2017). All of them have broad rostrum and very wide and flat antennal scapes.
In Saurops cavifrons the scaly vestiture is pale-brown or dark-brown, the eyes are flat and the pronotum and elytra are elongate and slender.
Unknown.

It is probably associated with vegetation of the Chacoan biogeographic province.
