Naupactus virens is similar to N. argentatus in size and general body shape. It mainly differentiates because the vestiture is green and more dense than in the latter species (sparse and silver-colored), funicular article 2º is longer relative to article 1º, flanks of pronotum are more rounded, and elytra are slightly shorter, more convex and with punctures of the striae almost indistinct. Corbels of hind tibiae are absent as in the latter species.
Males are smaller and narrower than females.
It causes damage on Citrus sp (Rutaceae), especially oranges, in São Paulo and Minas Gerais states, Brazil (Guedes et al. 2005).
It is mainly associated with vegetation of the Paranaense and Atlantic forests.
