Eurymetopus Schoenherr was revised by Lanteri (1984) and analyzed phylogenetically by Lanteri & Morrone (1995). It includes several species typical of the grassland of central Argentina and Uruguay.
E. birabeni differentiates from E. fallax mainly by the presence of two pairs of dark-brown maculae on the elytra, one large and another small; and the wider elytra, with more rounded humeri and larger punctures on the striae, having a round scale on bottom.
This species is flightless and probably parthenogenetic (Lanteri & Normark 1995).
Medicago sativa L., Lotus, Trifolium repens L. Trifolium pratense L. (Fabaceae) and Triticum aestivum L. (Poaceae) (Alzugaray et al. 1998, Lanteri et al. 1997, Lanteri et al. 2002a).
Associated with native vegetation and crops of the Pampean biogeographic province.
