It is an important agricultural pest in bean crops because it is present during all phenological stages of the crop (Lozano et al., 2017). It damages leaf tissue by feeding, influencing plant growth and development. As a consequence of its attack, three of the main yield components are affected: number of pods/plant, number of seeds/pod, and seed weight (Ospina et al., 1980).
In Argentina, it is found growing on common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.).
It is very abundant in Colombia growing on potato, common bean, cotton (Gossypium spp., sweet potato (Ipomea batatas [L.] Poir), barley (Hordeum argriorithon Aberg.), corn, alfalfa (Medicago sariva L.) y tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) (Paradell, 1995; Langlitz, 1964), peanut, Ricinus communis, Acacia sp., Vigna sinensis (Langlitz, 1964).
