Also known from Bolivia, Brazil, British Guiana, Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad, and Venezuela (Bachmann 1966, Morrone et al. 2004, Rodrigues et al. 2021).
Inhabiting borders of rivulets in forested hilly areas; an uncommon species; probably not gregarious (Mazzucconi & Bachmann 1995).
