Las larvas se colectaron de los internudos de especies de bambú del género Guadua (Stein et al., 2018). Se colectaron larvas de Toxorhynchites theobaldispecies de Aechmea distichantha, Tillandsia australis y un hueco de árbol en ambientes urbanos y suburbanos. Recientemente, Álvarez et al. (2024) colectaron estados inmaduros de la especie también en Guadua chacoensis así como en Bambusa vulgaris var. vittata. Se encontraron con larvas de Culex imitator y Toxorhynchites guadeloupensis en ambientes suburbanos, mientras que en ambientes urbanos, con Stegomyia aegypti (Apumaita et al., 2023).
