Larvae were collected from the internodes of Guadua species of bamboo (Stein et al., 2018). Larvae of Toxorhynchites theobaldi species were collected from Aechmea distichantha, Tillandsia australis, and a tree hole in urban and suburban environments. Recently, Alvarez et al. (2024) collected immature stages of the species also in Guadua chacoensis as well as in Bambusa vulgaris var. vittata. They were found with larvae of Culex imitator and Toxorhynchites guadeloupensis in suburban environments, while in urban environments, with Stegomyia aegypti (Apumaita et al., 2023).
