Habitat and breeding sites
Larvae were collected from the internodes of Guadua species of bamboo. Larvae of Toxorhynchites theobaldispecies were collected from Aechmea distichantha, Tillandsia australis, and a tree hole in urban and suburban environments. They were found with larvae of Culex imitator and Toxorhynchites guadeloupensis in suburban environments, while in urban environments, with Stegomyia aegypti (Apumaita et al., 2023).
