This species was listed by Castro et al. 1959 (1960) and Duret (1950a, 1951c) under names: Phoniomyia longirostris (Theobald) from which quasilongirostris was resurrected from synonymy by Lane & Cerqueira (1942) and Phoniomyia neivai which was synonymized under quasilongirostris by Correa and Ramalho (1956) (Mitchell and Darsie, 1985).
