The type locality was either Saenz Peña, Resistencia, or Charadai, Chaco Province. Since the holotype is missing, a lectotype, collected also by Petrocchi in Formosa Province, was designated by Casal & Castro (1970) (Mitchell and Darsie, 1985).
Immature stages have been found in Euterpes edulis (Campos et al. 2011) and Aechmea distichantha in northeastern provinces of Argentina (Alvarez et al. 2024).
