Records of this species for Chaco, Corrientes and Entre Ríos Provinces are based only on the distribution map of Carcavallo & Martínez (1968a) (Mitchell & Darsie, 1985).
Disease relations: Specimens of Psorophora cingulata were found naturally infected with the Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis virus during 2003-2004 in Chaco Province, Argentina (Pisano et al., 2010). Ilheus virus was isolated from a pool of Psorophora spp. mosquitoes from Trinidad, where Psorophora cingulata was present (Anderson et al., 1956). This mosquito species has the ability to adapt to anthropogenic environments, and this feature could have major epidemiological implications (Lopes & Lozovei, 1996).
Larvae were collected from natural water bodies at ground level in La Rioja Province, as well as clear pools of rainwater, with flooded grass at tree shadows in a peri-urban environment in Chaco Province (Apumaita et al., 2023), both Argentina. Immatures of Psorophora cingulata were found with Culex species and Psorophora cyanescens (Apumaita et al., 2023).
