"Three synonyms of this species have their type localities in Argentina, i.e., Aedes lynchii Brèthes 1910, described from Islas del Paraná, Buenos Aires province; Aedes tapinops Brèthes 1917, described from San Isidro, Buenos Aires province. Arnell (1976) stated that Aedes crinifer is apparently restricted to the Parana River system." Mitchell & Darsie (1985).
Immature stages develop in ephemeral puddles and phytotelmata Aechmea distichantha with larvae of Culex imitator, Culex fernandezi, and Toxorhynchites guadeloupensis.
