Pantomorus similis belongs to the Pantomorus auripes species group, revised by Lanteri et al. (1991). It is similar to P. auripes in body shape and color of vestiture, but differentiates because the eyes are flat and the scales of the elytral vestiture are oval, same as in Pantomorus fulvus.

It probably reproduces by parthenogenesis (Lanteri 1995b, Lanteri & Normark 1995).

Associated with native vegetation of the Chacoan and Yungas biogeographic provinces.
