The species inhabits the subtropical region in locations ranging from 20 to 1765 m.asl. Brazil: Curitiba, Paraná, Minas Gerais, Campo Belo, Fazenda Boa Vista, São Paulo, Berueri, Mato Grosso, Campo Grande, Estrada Curitiba-Río Branco, Ponta Grossa, Santa Catarina, Río Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, Cacador (Cavichioli & Sakakibara, 1993). Paraguay: San Pedro; Carumbé (Foieri & Marino de Remes Lenicov A.M. 2015).The distribution of D. (D.) mourei in the region is comparable with that of its preferred host plant, Setaria parviflora, a grass widely distributed from the United States to southern Argentina and Chile (Foieri et al. 2016).
