About the catalogue
This catalog gathers updated taxonomic data and distributional patterns of the ant species found in different ecosystems of Argentina. Records of genera, species and subspecies accumulated over almost 30 years of research are added to others records provided by several researches who published data on this taxon in the country. The last taxonomic list dates from 1998 and was made by the first author. Synonymous and biological information are also provided, when available. Each record is given with photographs of the different castes when possible, as well as ants in the own natural environment, where the taxon is more abundant. Geographical distribution data were obtained from samplings trips made by the authors, from colleagues who generously donated this information and from the available literature.
