Disease relations: Culex taeniopus was found to be susceptible to infection by Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis virus under laboratory conditions (Cupp et al., 1979) as well as natural conditions in Mexico (Deardorff & Weaver, 2010). It is also considered to be a potential vector of several virus of Bunyaviridae family (Shope at al., 1988; Walton & Grayson, 1988).
Larvae were collected from stagnant water. Adults were captured resting in dense vegetation in places partially or heavily shaded. Adults were attracted to human bite near sunset and also to light traps.
