Type locality: Monte Coman, Mendoza Province, Argentina (Duret 1954a).
"This species was originally placed in the subgenus Culex but Casal & García (1968b) created a new subgenus, Allimanta, for it." (Mitchell & Darsie, 1985).
Disease relations: unknown.
Larvae of Culex tramazayguesi have been collected from shallow puddles under extreme environmental conditions of conductivity, dissolved solids, salinity and alkalinity. The species was found coexisting with Culex apicinus.
