Disease relations: females of Psorophra cyanescens has been indicated as a potential vector of Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis virus (Mesa et al., 2005). Muñoz-Rodriguez et al. (2010) found that this species has high anthropophily and is therefore of high health interest.
Larvae were collected in clear pools of rainwater and flooded grass in the shadows of trees. Females were collected under a canopy with a mouth aspirator when trying to bit, at midmorning.
