La especie está ilustrada en Drake & Davis (1960). Existe una clave para la determinación de las especies de Carvalhotingis (Froeschner, 1995). El registro conocido para la Argentina corresponde a Monte (1940). Carvalhotingis visenda fue el primer agente de control biológico aprobado para su liberación para controlar Macfadyena unguis-cati (L.) (Bignoniaceae) en Australia y Sud Africa (Dhileepan et al. 2010; King et al. 2011; Guidoti et al., 2015).
