NOTE: Spinelli et al. (2005) recorded Leptoconops brasiliensis (Lutz) from Argentina on the basis of a single specimen collected in Molinos, Salta province (25°25'7.72''S, 66°19'23.74''W). Recently, through the courtesy of Dra. Maria Luiza Felippe-Bauer from the Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, Rio de Janeiro, we had the opportunity to study phoptographs of the type-series of this species, concluding that the specimen from Molinos belongs to Leptoconops casali. For this reason, Leptoconops brasiliensis is excluded from the argentinean fauna, and Molinos is herein added as a new locality under Leptoconops casali.

Holotype female (HT F) Deposited (MLPA).
