On this catalogue under development three hundred and thirty species of Ceratopogonidae arranged in 34
genera are listed for Argentina, based on published and unpublished
information, the latter based on specimens deposited in the collection
of the Museo de La Plata, Argentina (MLPA). For each listed species,
information on types (type locality, type category, sex and
location of type material), species distribution, localities for
Argentina and main references, are provided. Besides, for each species
photographs of types of the collection of the MLPA are also included,
as well as ink illustrations and, when available, photographs obtained
from Scanning Electron Microscope and Compound Microscope.
