This species is characterized by dull and grayish patterns but may have pinkish or greenish background coloration in some places in central and northwestern Argentina. It differs from M. bergarmatipes by its uniform pattern and lack of macula at the end of the discal cell on the forewings.
Caterpillar host plants: Bignoniaceae.

Nectar plants: Mandevilla laxa (Apocynaceae), Erythrostemon gilliesii Fabaceae, Ceiba chodatti (Malvaceae),Pseudobombax argentinum (Malvaceae), Plumbago scandens (Plumbaginaceae), Heterophyllaea pustullata (Rubiaceae), Cestrum parqui (Solanaceae), Nicotiana longiflora (Solanaceae), Glandularia platensis (Verbenaceae).
