The subspecies Erinnyis alope alope is present in Argentina. Caterpillars can cause damage to the papaya crop (Carica papaya) and cassava (Manihot esculenta).

Caterpillar host plants: Apocynaceae, Caricaceae, Euphorbiaceae.
