Ctenomelynthus bridarolli was originally described from Bolivia by Kormilev under the genus Petalops in 1952, and was posteriorly cited by Packauskas (2010) as present in Argentina without specifying any locality. Finally, in 2018 the specie was designated a nomen dubium by Bralovsky 2018 in hes work "The genus Ctenomelynthus (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Coreidae: Acanthocephalini), with the description of three new species and key to the known species"
