Material estudiado por Stål se encuentra depositado en el Swedish Museum of Natural History (Stål 1860), y ha sido identificado como tipo.
Según Carvalho & Dolling 1976 el Lectotipo hembra de Fundanius maculatus Distant 1884, el Lectotipo macho y un Paralectotipo de Fundanius marginatus Distant 1884, y el Lectotipo hembra y dos Paralectotipos de Fundanius rubricosus Distant 1884 se encuentran depositados en el British Museum of Natural History.
Según Carvalho 1954 el tipo de Fundanius bicolor Distant 1888 se encuentra depositado en el Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences y la hembra tipo de Capsus alternus Walker 1873 se encuentra depositado en el British Museum of Natural History.
Esta especie es un conocido predador especialista de Ortheziidae (Wheeler 2001; Ferreira & Henry 2010).
